What a grand National Anthem Day celebration was planned by teacher Linda Beck and Sumter School District 2 in Sumter, South Carolina! 400 students, grades 5–12 sang "The Star Spangled Banner," conducted by Deborah Horton, Choral Director at Crestwood High. A congratulatory letter from MENC President Barbara Geer was read to all assembled at this festive event at Patriot Hall in Sumter. 
Furman Middle's celebration included several special guests from Shaw AFB in Sumter, such as Brig. Gen. Shook.
