L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary students performing the Star Spangled Banner at "Meet the Teacher Night", Sept.14, 2007, led by music teacher Tammy Smith. The night started with a brief assembly in the auditorium where they sang "The Star Spangled Banner". A copy of the lyrics was distributed to all adults who enter the building so that they could participate too. After the initial assembly, students roamed from hall to hall passing out lyrics and singing for all to hear. That night, they performed our national anthem for about 300 people, a large number of them being recent immigrants to this country.
