Jennifer Johnson, music director at LaGrange Academy, supervised a 20ft X 40ft flag made out of construction paper handprint cutouts. The top red stripe represents the Kindergarten and following the stripes downward grades 1 - 12 are represented. The blue is comprised of faculty/staff handprints with the white "stars" coming from our kindergarten. The flag will hang permanently showing their school’s national pride.

Also at LaGrange Academy the students, faculty, staff, City Councilman Bobby Traylor, and Engine Company 3 of the LaGrange City Fire Department sang the anthem at the end of an exciting program, led by 2 lower school children. After an introduction and welcome to special parents and VIP’s by headmaster, Mr. Matt Walsh, and Ms. Johnson took a few minutes to relate MENC involvement in the National Anthem project and its importance in educating our children and country in our deep heritage. Then, lower, middle, and high school students talked about the flag, ”the Star-Spangled Banner”, as well as how the poem, “the Star-Spangled Banner”, came to be written. There were several parents and grandparents in attendance. It was a wonderful program!

2nd annual National Anthem Day celebrated by Wilson Creek Elementary in Johns Creek Georgia, with the help of Boy Scout Troop 4143. The general music teachers are Leslie Morgan and Patrick Denney.
