The Neosho County Community College Music Club celebrated National Anthem Day in conjunction with the NCCC History Club’s sponsorship of Constitution Day. Music director, David Smith, invited faculty, staff, and students to gather around the flagpole in front of Chapman Library on the NCCC Chanute Campus at noon to sing the anthem.
Music teacher Gloria Blackwell reported that Wilson Elementary School united in saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing the Star-Spangled Banner. A Boy Scout Troop brought in the flags for the school to face. The students assembled on the playground area and were dressed in red, white, or blue to form the colors and shape of the American Flag. Then they said the pledge and sang the national anthem.
