Prairie Hill School
On Friday, September 12th, the members of the Prairie Hill School 6th Grade Chorus, 7/8 Concert Choir, and their administrators joined together to celebrate the 194th anniversary of the writing of the Star-Spangled Banner. Each year, schools across the United States celebrate this event by participating in the National Anthem project. Classes learn and discuss the history of the song and then lead the entire student body in the singing of the anthem. Superintendent Ted Rehl and principals Mike Michowski and Wes Heiar joined the students in their presentation. This is the 4th year the Prairie Hill Choirs have participated in this celebration. Music teacher is Linda Julian.
Tinley Park High School
Under the direction of Bonnie Mootry, choir students at Tinley Park High School read the history of the National Anthem and sang the anthem during morning announcements on Friday, September 12, 2008. This is the first year that Tinley Park has participated in the activity.
