: I was asked to sing the National Anthem for a semi-pro football team in my area. My daughter was so excited about it. I asked her to sing it for me and her new vocabulary word was 'dawnsberry'. Worse than that she only got the first stanza correct 'O say can you see', and the last stanza 'And the home of the brave'. I told her she was a complete embarrassment. She said in her school they gave them the option to not sing the National Anthem or recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Most students are embarrassed to do it in public, so they choose not to learn it or do it at all. Now that's a sad commentary.
