Sorry for that last post, it was in error, and not my opinion, but already filled in. Didn't know how this worked, but now, for my opinion.

I believe that sining the National Anthem in Spanish is not blasphemous, or against our country. I believe that since this country was founded by immigrants, that immigrants who become American citizens have the right to free speech and to free expression. As far as changing the National Anthem to a Spanish version, I do not agree with that. However, if the purpose of a national anthem is to show patriotism, to boost loyalism, to instill pride in our country, making the beautiful words of the National Anthem understandable to a very large population of Americans is wonderful. So what if they sing our national anthem in Spanish. Is it hurting anyone for MORE Americans, 1st generation, 2nd generation, etc. to feel so much pride in our country that they wish to express it in a language that is also near and dear to their hearts...(does the term "mother tongue mean anything"?)

If a person is bilingual, and their native language is not English, learning the National Anthem in their own language helps them to understand the context and sentiment behind the words that they hear in English.

I don't think that banning expression of our national anthem in any language but English is what our country stands for. There was some debate during the founding of our country as to which language our founding documents should be in...among others, Latin and German were considered. Our country has been referred to as a melting pot, a stew, etc. Since when is a stew made out of ingredients that all taste the same. There must be ingredients coming from different cultures to continue to grow in tolerance, and in prosperity. Embrace diversity...."O'er the land of the FREE, and the Home of the Brave". How much braver can it be than to leave everything you know and come to a country that embraces everything you are.

Thanks
