My 8 year old was the only one in her Kindergarden class(age 5) that not only knew all the words but also could sing "The Star Spangled Banner". This happened because music was a part of my growing up memories. We sang at home, everything from patriotic and then popular music to all types of songs. Most kids today get music from the TV or cds' or ipods etc. Music isn't just a "school" subject it is a part of who we are and a way of expressing ourselves as well as a stress reliever. This project needs to go beyond school music class and again make patriotism a proud part of all Americans' lives. I totally support this project and plan to start asking questions of my city schools and the government offices of my city as to why we as a community are not yet involved in this.
